Pīpīwharauroa Was Too Busy

Then Tānehokahoka asked the small pīpīwharauroa bird.

But the bird looked at its family and nest and replied:

“No. I am too busy building my home.”

Again, the forest became quiet.

No bird wanted to make the sacrifice.

Finally, Tānehokahoka turned to the kiwi bird.

“E Kiwi, will you come down from the forest roof?”

“If you choose this path, you will lose your wings and never return to the treetops again.”
